  Spanish La Liga giants Real Madrid have confirmed the arrest of France striker Karim Benzema. Extending the football contract at the Santiago Bernabeu until June 2023 officially On Friday August 20

    The 33-year-old star, who has one year remaining on the original contract, has performed outstandingly over the past three seasons. He has scored more than 20 goals in the league every season, while in the first leg of the current season he has scored twice, despite only five goals in 32 games in the 2017/18 campaign.

This summer, Real Madrid have successfully renewed the contracts of many important players. After previously being able to extend the contracts of both Luka Modric, Thibaut Courtois and Dani Carvajal.

The France forward’s contract was due to expire next summer, however after losing club captain Sergio Ramos when his deal ran out earlier this year, the club have moved to ensure the same does not happen to Benzema.

One of the eye-catching details of Benzema’s new contract was the size of the release clause, at one billion euros.

After a televised signing ceremony where a best of Benzema video was played the striker posed for a photograph with Real president Florentino Perez with the pair holding up a shirt with Benzema’s name and the number 2023 on it.
